Why is air quality important?

Most people are aware that outdoor air pollution can damage their health, but most do not know that indoor air pollution can also have significant effects.
Here are some important facts about indoor air quality.

  • 50% of all illnesses are directly caused or aggravated by the indoor air we breathe.
  • We spend 80-90% of our time indoors.
  • One out of three people in the United States suffers from allergies, asthma or respiratory problems.

What is duct cleaning?

The term “Air Duct Cleaning” implies that only the duct work in a system needs to be cleaned, however, for maximum benefit, the entire system and filters need to be kept clean under some type of regular maintenance program.

Although there are several methods for cleaning air duct systems, the National Air Duct Cleaning Association recommends a method of ‘source removal’. Source Removal is accomplished with the use of our highly powerful and efficient ‘truck mounted’ vacuum unit using various brushes designed to dislodge debris within a system.

We, at Guy’s Air Conditioning & Heating pride ourselves on our ability to improve your indoor air quality with efficiency and ‘no mess” method of duct cleaning.

When buying an air conditioner, is bigger, better?

Most homeowners believe bigger is better when it comes to air conditioning, but that’s not accurate.

“Usually, they want a system that’s too large and costs a lot more to operate. They just end up with more than they need,” according to Paul Kersey, a heating-and-air-conditioning expert for the Home Service Store, “because they’re in a hurry to get the unit installed yesterday.”

A larger than necessary system may keep the temperature cool but it won’t run long enough to remove humidity, a major factor in comfort. (source Houston Chronicle, June 2001)
